Connect a domain you already own
Nameservers or records, propagation, and how to confirm it worked.
Nameservers or records
If your domain is at another registrar, you can connect it to Pluxion in two common ways: point the nameservers to the ones we show you, or keep DNS where it is and add the records (A, CNAME, MX, and so on) the dashboard lists.
- In the dashboard, go to Domains and choose connect or add a domain you already own.
- Enter the domain name (no https or www, unless the flow asks for it).
- Follow the instructions: change nameservers at the registrar, or copy records one by one.
- In your registrar panel, apply those values exactly. Save the changes.
If you use Pluxion nameservers, DNS is managed here. If you only add records, DNS stays at the other provider and you must keep them updated.
Propagation
After you save at the registrar, changes are not instant everywhere. Propagation can take from minutes to 24-48 hours, sometimes a bit more depending on the previous TTL. Meanwhile you may see the domain work in one place and fail in another. That is normal.
Do not change nameservers and records at the same time unless you know which path is authoritative. Pick one path and wait for it.
How to know it is done
- Return to Domains in the dashboard and check the domain status or health.
- When the status looks correct or healthy, try opening the site with your domain (and www if it applies).
- If you also use email, confirm MX matches the email guide.
If more than 48 hours pass and it still fails, check for a typo in the nameserver or record, and for old conflicting records.
Tip
Note where DNS lives (Pluxion or another provider). When something breaks, you will know where to edit. Fewer guesses, more progress.
