Hosting and sites

Publish your site and see it live

Publish, SSL, and test the URL.

Publish

Creating the site does not always mean it is visible to the world. Publish when the minimum content is ready.

  1. Under Hosting or Sites, open the site you want to take live.
  2. Use publish or move to production if the dashboard shows that action.
  3. If you work in WordPress or another CMS, also publish pages or posts from there.
  4. Wait until the status becomes active or published.

If you have a staging and a production environment, confirm you are publishing to the right one.

SSL (https)

Pluxion usually provides an SSL certificate so the site loads over https. After you publish and the domain points correctly:

  1. Open the site with https://yourdomain.
  2. Check that the browser lock appears without a strange warning.
  3. If you see a certificate error, wait a few minutes (especially after a DNS change) and try again.
  4. If the CMS allows it, force internal links to use https.

Without correct DNS, SSL can delay or fail. Domain first, then the lock.

Test the URL

  1. Open your domain URL in a private window.
  2. Also try www and the mobile view.
  3. Browse home, contact, and a form if you have one.
  4. If something does not load, check DNS health and that the site is still published.

Share the URL only after you have seen it working. A customer should not find the error before you do.

Tip

After you publish, bookmark the domain. It is the simplest reminder that "this is live".
